More Than 700 Participate in Gala Dinner to Raise Over $205,000
for India Cultural Center of Utah
An elegant evening of entertainment, networking, authentic Indian
dining and dancing at the South Towne Expo Center was a fitting way
to celebrate the India Cultural Center (ICC) Annual Gala on June
14th. Chaired by Dr. Dinesh Patel, founding partner of vSpring
Capital and lifetime trustee of the Sri Ganesha Hindu Temple of
Utah, the event raised more than $205,000 to benefit the India
Cultural Center.
“I am thrilled to announce this year’s Gala has raised an
unprecedented amount,” said Dr.Patel. “The ICC’s action plan calls
for starting construction of the proposed building in South Jordan,
where a ground blessing ceremony took place just a week ago.” {Read

McDonough School Professors Identify Important International
Business Trends in New Report
A recent study released by McDonough School faculty Michael R.
Czinkota and Ilkka A. Ronkainen forecasts some of the most important
international trends that business leaders should expect to face in
coming years. The report, titled "Trends and Indications in
International Business: A Delphi Study," identifies how issues
including terrorism, globalization, and corruption will affect the

SLCC Offers ‘Executive Certificate of Global Business
Management’
The Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Miller Global Business Center
is once again offering its Executive Certificate of Global Business
Management course to business executives, professionals, working
staff, entrepreneurs and qualified students who wish to increase
their knowledge and improve their strategies in global business
practices.
Stan Rees, [title], says the course is suitable for individuals new
to international trade and assumes no prior international
experience, but is also valuable to business managers already
involved in international trade who would benefit from an added
in-depth exposure to international marketing, trade finance,
international transportation and trade management.
“Professionals from service industries such as banking,
transportation and consultants will also find the courses useful for
their own professional development and to better understand the
needs of their international clients,” Rees adds.
The certificate consists of five sections and 30 hours of class
instruction. It includes a professional working text and supplements
designed to help guide a business into the global marketplace. The
courses are taught by experts and leading professional practitioners
and will involve developing an international business plan,
lectures, case studies, computerized international market research
and hands-on practical experience.
Classes start October 2 and end December 11. A total of 10 classes
will be held on Thursday evenings with each class lasting 3 hours (6
– 9 p.m.). (No class will be held during the Thanksgiving week.)
Classes will be held at the Miller Business Innovation Center, 9690
S. 300 West, Suite 333, Sandy.

earthquake-relief scholarship fund of Sichuan University, the U.’s
sister school and partner of the Confucius Institute, to benefit
students affected by the devastating earthquake in China. The
concert will feature the famous violin concerto "Butterfly Lovers,"
Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 448, and other Chinese and Western
music. Tickets are $10 each. The concert will be held in the Libby
Gardner Hall, School of Music, University of Utah.
