Gov. Gary Herbert and Utah lawmakers are squaring off over whether the process to elect a replacement for Rep. Jason Chaffetz is legal. Herbert has gone so far as to block the Attorney General from giving lawmakers a legal opinion on the matter.
Legislators may exact their revenge on Herbert in the 2018 Legislature.
Chris Herrod shocks the world and wins the delegate vote in the 3rd Congressional District to win a spot on the August 15 primary ballot against John Curtis and Tanner Ainge. Herrod’s win shows how much farther to the right politically delegates are compared to the rest of the Republican party. The August primary will feature one person who never went before delegates and another who got only 9% of the delegate vote, meaning SB54 is doing what it was intended to do.
Donald Trump’s favorability rating has fallen in Utah, but it’s still higher in the Beehive State than it is nationally.
Utahns also say they are opposed to the Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.
