President Donald Trump’s favorability rating has dipped slightly in Utah since April according to a new UtahPolicy.com survey.
52% of Utahns say they have an unfavorable view of the president, including 38% who replied “very unfavorable.” 45% say they view Trump favorably.
In a similar survey from April, 50% of Utahns said they held an unfavorable view of Trump.
Utahns view Trump much more favorably than the nation as a whole. The most recent Gallup survey showed Trump’s national approval rating is just 38% compared with 56% who say they disapprove.
Utah Republicans are solidly behind the President, with 70% viewing him favorably (27% “very favorable” and 43% “somewhat favorable”).
Not surprisingly, Utah Democrats absolutely hate Trump, with only 1% saying they view him “somewhat favorably.” 98% hold an unfavorable opinion of Trump. That number includes 92% who see him very unfavorably.
72% of independent voters in Utah hold an unfavorable opinion of Trump, while 25% see him in a favorable light.
Women in Utah still dislike President Trump. 54% say they see him unfavorably and 43% with a favorable opinion. That’s a slight improvement over April when Utah women had a negative opinion of Trump 56-39%.
Men in Utah have soured on Trump recently. 52% in our most recent poll say they have a negative view of Trump while 46% see him favorably. That’s a reversal from our April survey when men held a favorable view 54-44%.
Utah conservatives hold a positive opinion of Trump, while moderates and liberals are definitely not fans.
- 90% of “very conservative” Utahns view Trump favorably.
- “Somewhat conservative” Utahns approve of Trump 52-43%.
- Utahns who say they are political moderates see President Trump unfavorably 74-23%.
- Nearly every Utahns who is “somewhat liberal” holds an unfavorable view of Trump. That number breaks against the president 99-1%.
- “Very liberal” Utahns also dislike Trump 98-2%.
The Dan Jones & Associates survey was conducted May 31 – June 5, 2017, among 607 registered Utah voters with a margin of error +/- 3.98%.
