Could Abby Huntsman, daughter of Jon Huntsman, join the Democratic party? Maybe. Maybe not.

Huntsman appeared on Current TV's "War Room" with Jennifer Granholm who invited her to join the Democratic party. Huntsman replied "I will join you there. I will join you." From Politico:

Huntsman revealed how her father was treated by the GOP for his centrist campaign, telling a story about how “he was supposed to speak at a fundraiser in Florida and the RNC contacted him and said, because you were speaking out for the need for a third voice, you’re no longer invited to represent us at the fundraiser. So he’s actually been disinvited to a lot of events.”

If Huntsman were to ditch the Republican Party, it wouldn’t exactly be a surprise. She called the Republican Party “one of non-inclusion,” said the presumptive nominee Mitt Romney “will say whatever we want to hear” and is slated to join the progressive website The Huffington Post for its upcoming online video venture.

Huntsman is now backtracking from those comments. She tells the Daily Caller accepting the invitation from Granholm was a joke:

“That was just fun back and forth banter with Governor Granholm,” she told TheDC on Wednesday. “I’ve always been a Republican, but like many Americans right now, I feel without a home this election cycle.”
