West Jordan, UTAH--Oracle has resumed construction on a major facility in West Jordan, Utah to meet the needs of its growing customer base. 

Construction on the approximately 180,000 square feet data center began a little over a year ago  and represents a $285 million capital investment by the company.

The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development offered incentives in collaboration with many different partners, including local government, utilities, the private sector and EDCUtah to bring Oracle high-tech jobs and facilities to Utah.

 “West Jordan is delighted that Oracle has resumed construction on their new facility,” said Mayor Melissa K. Johnson.  “With the assistance of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development as partners with West Jordan we were able to successfully compete for this significant addition to our community.”

Previously the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and West Jordan offered Oracle a post performance incentive to come to the state.  New state tax revenues from the facility are expected to exceed $50 million.  The site is expected to house 100 employees, with the average salary projected to exceed 200% of the Salt Lake County average wage.  New state wages are expected to exceed $73 million during the 12- year incentive period.
