United Way Opens New Grant Cycle

For more than 100 years, United Way of Salt Lake has partnered with nonprofit agencies in Davis, Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele counties to make a difference in our community. Each Community Partner receives grants from United Way of Salt Lake. We invest in 63 community partners, 163 programs, and four strategic initiatives that create a brighter future in our community.

Every three years United Way of Salt Lake undergoes its grant cycle, through which our existing community partners must reapply for grants and new non-profit and public service providers are invited to apply. UWSL is now in the midst of the 2008-2011 grant cycle and we encourage all non-profit organizations and established public entities to apply.

As a facilitator of change, our goal has been and always will be to maximize the delivery of services, through which we can implement individual changes in knowledge, skills, health, and behavior. The grant renewal cycle helps to ensure that UWSL and its community partners are in sync regarding UWSL’s priorities and objectives, that we are achieving the results we seek, and that there is no duplication of effort.

We are looking forward to another successful grant cycle, and hope to receive many grant applications. And thanks to the generosity of our cornerstone Partners—those local corporations and foundations that provide the resources for UWSL's costs of doing business—we are proud to say that 100 percent of every personal contribution received by UWSL works to improve lives and to meet the greatest needs in the communities we serve. No personal contributions support UWSL's administrative expenses.

Please read the Impact Matters article in this newsletter for more information about the grant application process.
