Hatch: HHS Mandate Undermines Religious Freedom

In a Politico op-ed, Sen. Orrin Hatch says the Obama administration's mandate that religious institutions provide employees with insurance coverage for abortion drugs and contraception threatens Americans' freedom of religion.

This category of “preventive services” includes drugs that not only prevent conception but also those, like Plan B, that can destroy human life. Americans of different faiths, organizations as well as individuals, oppose some or all of these drugs and services on religious or moral grounds. Requiring that employers who have religious or moral objections pay for these services forces them to choose between their beliefs (and resulting penalties) and providing insurance coverage for employees.

There is a battle now to have your opinion backed by the legal gun (Government) Orrin Hatch says people should vote according to their religious convictions. I say let people do whatever they want- you shouldn't be coercing your opinion on others. Democracy = mob rule. People shouldn't be forced to do anything. Hatch is just feeding the fire. He should have been on these problem decades ago.
