Rep. John Curtis joins Energy and Commerce Committee

Utah’s Third Congressional Representative, John Curtis, was recently appointed to the Energy and Commerce Committee. The E&C Committee has wide jurisdiction over critical issues including healthcare, telecommunications, technology, consumer safety, environment, food and drug safety, energy, and interstate and foreign commerce. Established in 1795, the committee is the oldest continuous standing committee in the House of Representatives.

“I am proud to have been selected by my colleagues to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee in the 117th Congress,” said Curtis. “No committee in Congress has more impact on Utah, including its oversight of all policy related to healthcare, technology, commerce, environment, energy, and much more. I look forward to representing Utah’s interest on this prestigious committee.”

House Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers had this to say: “I’m excited to have Congressman John Curtis join the Energy and Commerce Committee. The vast majority of legislation we consider in the House runs through this committee. To deliver results to the people of Utah, I know Congressman Curtis is ready to hit the ground running on technology, energy, and healthcare policy solutions that will improve people’s lives.”
